Culturopoiesis, or Culture-Making

We live in sophisticated systems often best understood through psychological inquiry into inter-referential mythologies. The more we are aware of this process enough to participate in creation the more culture is made on purpose. I have practiced, am now, and aspire to be a better Culturesmith. This is a collection of existing evidence of public contributions to the culture-making process, with comments and original work from those who have asked to be represented here.

Global Warning

There is a profound conflict in process beneath the paired Isms that weave several rather large and portentous dilemmas. Here are some of the voices I hear speaking, stories I see perpetuating themselves (memes), named with purposely unwieldy (almost to the point of comedy) terminologisms, and a bit fleshed out with examples:

  • Totalitarianism and Democratism
    • Globalism and Worldism
      • Corporatism and Grassism
      • War and "Aid"

  • Heroism and Individualism
    • Rationalistic Scientism and Monotheistic Religionism
      • Ecocapitalism
        • Global Warming

  • Structuralism and Deconstructionism


Whatever the usefulness to you of this way of working with these ideas, the images and their consequences are difficult to deny plausibly. At very least their concrete and imagined clashings sound a warning bell that has been ringing for quite some time, until the liberties to which we have become used are beginning to show cracks, both at the civil and uncivil levels.

Rather than make a bunch of new entries I'll return and update this one as I work it into a more full expression.
